Thesis

Photography has become a massive art form and done much for the industry, but without effects, in its most basic form it is simply evidence or a reminder of what has occurred.

  1. Jordan,

What do you mean by "the industry"?

What do you want to be your main point? That a photograph is more of a historical document than a work of art? Or that a photograph is both of those things? Or that all photographs are historical documents but only some are art?

Your thesis has some solid ideas; just decide what your specific argument will be regarding those ideas.

  2. Okay,

I want my main point to be that all photographs are historical documents and that some of them are art. I meant the art industry. Thank you for the input. It will definitely help with the direction of my paper.

    1. Jordan,

That sounds good. I would just avoid referring to artists as being part of an "industry" unless you want to critique the idea of art. "Industry" has connotations of capitalism and profit, which are two concepts that "art" is generally above.
